Associate Members Directory University of Hildesheim Department of Information Science and Natural Language Processing Associate Germany Europe Member Since 2023 Visit School About At the School of International Information Management, we combine Information Science, Computational Linguistics, and Intercultural Communication. We believe that with this combination students can participate in teams creating innovative and user-friendly systems or services within different domains. Much emphasis is placed on user-driven human-computer-interaction, users ‘information behaviour, and information seeking and retrieval especially of cross-lingual and cross-cultural approaches. In all our subject areas we put the user and his/her needs and requirements first. We understand Information Science in an analytical as well as in a constructive sense so that students can choose one of these directions. Subjects’ areas we specialize in include: Information (Seeking, Searching) Behaviour Information Literacy Online Marketing and Social Networks (Cross-lingual) Information Retrieval Multimedia Retrieval (such as image IR) (International) Human-Computer-Interaction. We run a bachelor's and master's programme as well as doctoral programmes. Our undergraduate programme offers studying abroad for one semester and the course portfolio embraces multidisciplinary learning with the opportunity to specialize on information and computer science or on information science and digital social sciences. The SoIT is home to Ohio's first Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Information Technology. In addition, it is home to Ohio's first ABET accredited Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity. The SoIT an average annual growth rate of 18%. It currently serves more than 2,000 students with 35 full-time faculty members, 35 full-time staff, and 30 adjunct faculty. The school was one of the first iSchools in the nation and is the premier institution studying and using technology to improve human computer interactions. UMSI offers five degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Information (BSI), a Master of Science in Information (MSI), a Master of Health Informatics (MHI), an online Master of Applied Data Science (MADS) and a doctoral degree (PhD). UMSI’s programs are broadly interdisciplinary. The faculty comes from many fields, from computer science to law to social networking to public health. The student body is likewise diverse, representing well over 100 majors. Each member of the University of Michigan School of Information’s scholarly community comes from a unique background, making the school stronger and helping to fulfill its mission of building a better world through technology and information. The faculty, staff and students reflect the intellectual diversity of the broad range of social and technological sciences that make up the unique UMSI approach to solving information problems. Administrative offices, faculty offices and classrooms are located in the North Quadrangle Academic and Residential Complex on the northern edge of the University of Michigan central campus. Plans are underway for a new and larger home for the School of Information to be built on the university’s north campus, adjacent and connected to the College of Engineering. The school educates information professionals and scholars who have influence on the management and design of information resources, services, and systems. We offer the following academic and professional programs: a Master of Information Studies with areas of specialization in Library Studies, Knowledge Management, Information and Communication Technology, and Archival Studies/Records Management; a PhD in Information Studies; and several Graduate Certificates. Basic Members Directory Kyushu University Department of Library Science Basic Japan Asia Pacific Member Since 2018 Visit School About As part of the effort to develop the new frontiers of science, and to reorganize and reintegrate the scientific knowledge accumulated so far, we opened a new graduate school, the Graduate School of Integrated Frontier Sciences in April 2009. The increasing specialization and segmentation of fields of study has resulted in a vast amount of intellectual assets. The school is designed to reorganize these assets to pursue new scientific knowledge and value in an integrated manner, thereby contributing to the solutions of various pressing problems that face today's scientific community and society at large, all while training personnel to acquire the ability to work for this end. It has three departments. The Department of Kansei Science aims to train highly skilled personnel who can lead in the creation of kansei value from the perspectives of the users, the main beneficiaries of knowledge, and with the correct understanding of human kansei needs. The Department of Automotive Science aims to train specialists to acquire the ability to contribute to the creation of a new automotive society based on an integrated and advanced knowledge of automobiles, state-of-the-art technologies, human needs, and society.
