Faculty members, doctoral students, alumni, and a former visiting scholar from Rutgers University’s School of Communication and Information will participate in the Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE) 2026 Annual Conference, taking place from 16–18 November in Buffalo, New York.
Under the theme The Good Questions, the conference will explore the role of questions in education, teaching, information seeking, sensemaking, knowledge generation, and responsible participation in society.
Rutgers participants will contribute juried papers, panel discussions, and research posters covering topics including large language models and librarianship, informal AI learning, professional development for library and information science educators, qualitative research, vaccine hesitancy, cognitive authority, and community memory.
Participants include doctoral students Juliana Mestre, Neil D. Grimes, and Alexandra Pucciarelli; alumni Kaitlin E. Montague and Emma May; Professor Denise Agosto; and former visiting scholar Carolina Costa Gonzaga.
Members of the Rutgers community will also receive recognition at the conference. Grimes is one of three recipients of the 2026 ALISE Leadership Development Grant and has been named a 2026 ALISE Leadership Intern. Montague won the 2026 Eugene Garfield Doctoral Dissertation Competition for her research on information access and the information practices of people living in vehicles.
Rutgers is sponsoring the conference’s Awards Luncheon and Annual Business Meeting. At the conclusion of the meeting, Professor Denise Agosto will begin her term as ALISE president-elect.
