ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
Biennial International Conference and Course
LIBRARIES AND INFORMATION INSTITUTIONS IN THE DIGITAL AGE (LIDA)
Conference Theme: Information Everywhere
Osijek, Croatia, 24th - 26th May 2023
Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Osijek
Web site: http://lida.ffos.hr/
Libraries in the Digital Age (LIDA) is an international biennial conference that brings together researchers, educators, students, practitioners, and developers from all over the world in a forum for personal exchanges, discussions, and learning, made easier by being held in memorable environs. LIDA addresses the changing and challenging environment for libraries and information systems and services in the digital world.
This year's theme is "Information Everywhere" and we welcome submission of papers, panels, workshops and posters that address critical and theoretical examinations of the theme; report current research and evidence-based approaches as well as present innovative approaches from the field, and practitioner applications and perspectives.
Note: The LIDA conference is being planned to be fully in-person. Although we are looking forward to welcoming everyone to LIDA in Osijek, Croatia, we recognize that we live in uncertain times. If circumstances do not allow an on-ground conference to take place safely, LIDA will move to a virtual conference platform.
Sadly, we lost our longstanding LIDA Co-Director, beloved colleague, mentor, and dear friend, Dr. Ross J. Todd from Rutgers University, who passed away on March 30, 2022. We will commemorate and celebrate Ross's life and research contributions during the LIDA 2023 conference and will invite all attendees to join with us in his remembrance.
We would also like to inform you that earlier that week (May 22-23, 2023) an international conference Digital Transformation and Inclusiveness of the Higher Education Institutions in the Time of Crisis Situations, organized by Erasmus+ project DECriS (https://decris.ffos.hr/), will take place in Osijek. We invite you to consider prolonging your stay in Osijek and take part in both events (at discounted registration rate).

Invitation to institutions:
Libraries, information agencies, professional organizations, publishers, and service providers are invited to consider participation at LIDA by providing a demonstration, workshop, or exhibit about their products, services or advances, or by presenting a paper or poster about their activities, as related to the two themes. Sponsorship of an event is also invited. Institutions can benefit as well. We will provide conference materials to participants so that they can communicate and transfer topics of interest to their institution.
Venue - The City of Osijek
Osijek is the 4th largest city in Croatia, with total population of ca 100,000 inhabitants. It is a city located inland in the eastern part of the country on the right bank of the river Drava. Nearby, there is a must-see Nature Park Kopački rit, also called the European Amazon, which was declared a part of the Mura-Drava-Danube Biosphere Reserve under UNESCO. Osijek is also known as a gastronomical capital of Croatia, offering diverse specialties such as fresh fish, game, organic veggies, and delicious artisanal pastry, made in traditional ways. The city has a growing craft beer scene, and is surrounded by a traditionally well known wine making region.
