Issue #2

Data, Numbers

PhD students and researchers across the global Information Studies community are invited to contribute ideas to the student-led Future Research Agenda for Information Studies initiative.

The project aims to identify research directions that deserve greater attention from the next generation of researchers. Contributions are welcomed from across Information Studies and are not limited to Information Retrieval. The organizers are particularly interested in bringing together diverse perspectives from different research areas and geographical regions.

Submitted ideas will be grouped and discussed during a dedicated workshop, with the goal of developing them into a perspectives paper for SIGIR 2028. Everyone who submits an idea will be acknowledged as a contributor, while workshop participants may also have the opportunity to become co-authors of the resulting paper.

A €500 CHIIR registration fee waiver is available. Ideas submitted by 8 November 2026 will be considered for the waiver, while the general call for contributions will remain open until the end of the year.

PhD students, faculty members, and colleagues are warmly encouraged to contribute and share this opportunity within their networks.
