Basic Members Directory Khon Kaen University Department of Information Science Basic Thailand Asia Pacific Member Since 2019 Visit School About Since its establishment in 1974, the Department of Library Science has undergone significant transformations in both its name and academic programs. In 1992, the department expanded its facilities by establishing a Library Science Laboratory and a Computing Laboratory for Information Science. Two years later, in 1994, it introduced a Master of Arts program in Library and Information Science. Further curriculum revisions were made in 2002, when the undergraduate program was renamed as the Bachelor of Arts in Information Science. In the same year, the department also launched a Master’s program in Information Management and Public Relations. At the doctoral level, the department initially offered a Ph.D. in Information Studies, which later evolved into the Ph.D. in Information Science, supported by the Fulbright Foundation. FSU School of Information faculty, staff, students, alumni and employers can be found in all kinds of information spaces: exploring cybersecurity, health information technology, social media, data mining and data analytics; cultural heritage; conducting assessments of early literacy programs in public libraries; studying the lifecycles of scientists at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory; building digital libraries and creating new information resources for K-12 classrooms; sponsoring hackathons and coordinating information makerspaces; helping consumers judge the credibility of health information on the Web; and implementing broadband in rural communities.
