The School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign seeks to hire outstanding specialized faculty members to join our dynamic and collegial School of Information Sciences (iSchool). We invite applications for two 100% full-time non-tenure track, open rank, specialized faculty positions with the iSchool.


The iSchool welcomes scholars with experience in policy and governance, dynamics and complexity in social sciences, computational modeling in social sciences and humanities, organizational behavior, or librarianship. Candidates with backgrounds in cognitive science, business, library and information science, sociology, anthropology, history, political science, and psychology are especially encouraged to apply. We seek applicants who will thrive in an interdisciplinary academic unit at one of the nation’s premier land-grant research universities. Successful candidates must exhibit the potential to conduct world-class research, teach effectively in undergraduate, professional, and doctoral programs, and contribute to our mission of service and community engagement.


SPECIFIC DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Teaching Professors deliver an effective and engaging classroom experience, publish on topics related to information research and scholarship, and engage in related pedagogical activities to make both an instructional impact and a curricular impact within and beyond the department. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant field by the time of appointment.  Preferred qualifications include a minimum of one year teaching experience equivalent to 2-3 courses.


Lecturers deliver an effective and engaging classroom experience and support the department through service responsibilities. Candidates must have at least a master’s degree or equivalent degree and some professional experience. Preferred qualifications include and a minimum of one year teaching experience equivalent to 2-3 courses.


Teaching loads are dependent on job title. The Assistant/Associate/Full Teaching Professor course load is 4 courses per year. The Lecturer and Senior Lecturer course load is 6 courses per year.
