The Cornell Global AI Initiative at Cornell University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to support research and program development at the intersection of AI, society, and global communities. The position is based in the Bowers College of Computing and Information Science and will be supervised by Prof. Aditya Vashistha. The postdoctoral researcher will have opportunities to develop independent research projects aligned with the goals of the Cornell Global AI Initiative.
The Cornell Global AI Initiative brings together researchers across disciplines to study how AI systems interact with culture, institutions, and social inequalities around the world, and to develop approaches that ensure AI technologies are pluralistic, human-centered, and responsive to diverse communities.
The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to research on topics such as Human-Centered AI, Community-Centered AI, Responsible AI, AI and Culture, and AI Safety, with particular attention to the impacts of AI technologies in global and underserved contexts.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
A PhD in HCI, AI, NLP, Information Science, Computer Science, or a closely related field
A strong research record, including publications in top-tier HCI, AI, or interdisciplinary venues
Experience conducting research in global environments and/or engaging underserved communities
Strong collaboration and communication skills
