Application Deadline:  December 1, 2026

The College of Computing & Artificial Intelligence (CAI) is UW-Madison's first new college in more than 40 years, bringing together three established and highly regarded departments: Computer Sciences, Statistics, and the Information School. Building on their longstanding strengths in research and education, CAI advances interdisciplinary discovery spanning computing, data, information, and artificial intelligence and prepares students to shape how technology is designed, developed, and used for the public good. Supported by more than $400 million in philanthropic and institutional investment, CAI is expanding its faculty by 50 positions and significantly growing its research enterprise. Faculty joining CAI have the opportunity to contribute to established academic communities while helping shape a new college at a pivotal moment in its development. CAI is based in Morgridge Hall, a new, state-of-the-art facility designed to foster collaboration, learning, and discovery.

The Information School seeks highly qualified candidates for multiple tenure-track or tenured faculty positions in all areas of library and information science. All faculty positions will be academic nine-month, tenure-track or tenured appointments at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level, starting August 2027.

  • Appointment at the tenured level requires evidence of excellence in scholarly research, teaching, and service, as well as demonstrated, ongoing success (appropriate to research area) in securing extramural funding from federal agencies, non-profit foundations, and/or industry research partners (as appropriate to disciplinary field).

  • In addition, successful candidates will demonstrate experience with fostering or the ability to foster an inclusive and equity-centered teaching, learning, departmental, and research environment where all can thrive.
