Frequently Asked Questions

Who votes for the member schools?:

Each iSchool in good standing with full membership, nominates one individual to vote on behalf of the iSchool. The invitation to participate in the election will only be sent to this individual.

What does "will be elected in accordance with the Member School’s membership level" mean?:

Each iSchool belongs to one of six membership levels. Associate Members have no voting rights.  The other five levels represent full memberships, and votes are weighted as follows:

iCaucus: vote counts x5
Enabling: vote counts x4
Sustaining: vote counts x3
Supporting: vote counts x2
Basic: vote counts x1

Each iSchool votes for one candidate and the voting will be multiplied with the number connected to their level. These weighted votes only apply to the elections for Regional Chairs and General Board of Directors Members.

How do I check the membership level of my iSchool?:

Please go to our membership database (https://www.ischools.org/members) and search for your school (either by browsing or using the search function at the top).  Please click on "View school". This opens your schools database entry, which contains your membership level in the upper half of the page.

Who can be a candidate?:

Any faculty member of an iSchool can be a candidate for election. Regional positions and the Chair-Elect position are restricted to faculty members of iSchools located in the respective region. A candidate can be nominated by others or self-nominate, but require endorsement from their iSchool’s leadership. Nominations can be submitted via the Nominations Form below.

How many positions can I be a candidate for?:
