Department Chair and Associate/Full Professor in Biomedical Engineering and Informatics

The Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering at IU Indianapolis seeks exceptional candidates for a tenured faculty position to serve as chair in the Department of Biomechanical Engineering and Informatics (BMEI). The appointment will begin July 1, 2026 on the IU Indianapolis campus or potentially sooner. Exceptional faculty candidates are being sought to join our fast-growing department. We welcome applications from established researchers with collaborative research teams. Candidates will be considered from all areas in bioinformatics, health and biomedical informatics, biomedical engineering, clinical informatics, medical informatics and other related informatics areas at the intersection of computing, engineering and human health. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong leadership and vision to expand and advance current and future Biomedical Engineering degree programs at the BS, MS, and PhD levels. Candidates must be tenured and demonstrate a strong scholarly record of effective, well-reviewed teaching, a scholarly record of externally-funded research, exhibited by high-impact peer-reviewed publications and a forward-looking, research agenda.


Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Computer Science

The Indiana University Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering at IU Indianapolis invites applications for multiple open rank tenured or tenure-track assistant, associate or full professor positions in computer science. Appointment start date is ideally January 1, 2026 or sooner. Candidates must demonstrate an outstanding scholarly record of research, exhibited by high-department-chair-lecturer-assistant-associate-full-professorimpact peer-reviewed publications and a forward-looking, externally funded research agenda as Principal Investigator (PI). Candidates meeting all the required qualifications may be contacted immediately for inquiry and an interview. It is possible a preferred candidate may be selected as other applications are still being received. Research expertise in the following areas of computer science will be considered: Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Robotics, Computer Vision, Cyber security, Cyberphysical Systems, and Quantum Computing. Lecturer, Computer Science

The responsibilities of the position include teaching assigned courses in graduate and undergraduate programs; developing courses for the traditional classroom setting, computer labs, and online education; help setting program and specialization goals; developing and continually updating the curriculum and training activities; contributing to the recruitment and marketing of the program; interviewing, evaluating, and advising students; engaging in scholarly activity related to teaching; serving as a member of campus, school, department and program committees; maintaining current knowledge and skills in the computer science profession through active participation in professional organizations, collaboration, practice, and research; and serving on professional committees. Appointments will begin January 1, 2026 (with flexibility for an earlier or later start by mutual agreement), at the IU Indianapolis campus.


Lecturer, Library and Information Science

The IU Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering in Indianapolis invites applications for one full-time lecturer-track faculty position in the Department of Library and Information Science.


A committed educator is sought to join our department on the Indianapolis campus. We are interested in candidates with one or more of the following areas of expertise:

  • Emerging Technologies in Libraries and Archives

  • Educational Technology 

  • Technology in Support of Information Organization and Systems


Candidates must have experience effectively teaching in an online environment and five or more years of professional (industry) experience in one or more areas of expertise listed above. A deep understanding of career opportunities in the information professions and a passion for graduate student mentoring for academic and professional success is necessary.

Ideal candidates will also shape their teaching in ways that leverage the unique strengths of Luddy Indianapolis, including its interdisciplinary and collaborative environment and commitment to service and community engagement. We especially welcome candidates who bring direct experience or novel approaches to incorporating generative AI (and related tools) to enhance student learning.

Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence and Data Science

The Indiana University Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering, IU Indianapolis campus, invites applications for one open rank tenured or tenure-track assistant, associate or full professor position in Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. The candidate will have a tenure home in the Department of Human-Centered Computing, with an affiliate appointment in the Department of Computer Science. Appointments will begin August 1, 2026, on the Indianapolis campus. Candidates should have an excellent research record, demonstrated through high-impact peer-reviewed publications. They should also demonstrate the ability or significant potential to secure external funding and develop a forward-looking research agenda as a Principal Investigator (PI). The typical effort for a tenured or tenure-track faculty member is expected to be 40% research, 40% teaching and 20% service.
