The College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at Nanyang Technological University is inviting applications for Assistant Professor (Tenure-track) in Digital Humanities.
This post offers an emerging expert in the use of digital methods in humanities or social sciences to shape an ambitious, fast-growing centre in Digital Humanities in Asia.
Young and research-intensive, Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) is ranked among the world’s top universities. Agile, bold and inventive, NTU Singapore shapes the future by combining technology and human creativity to tackle the toughest challenges in our society.
NTU Singapore’s College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CoHASS) brings together researchers and practitioners in fields from design and communication to philosophy and economics, to create new knowledge about the relationship between society, culture, nature, and technology in Asia and beyond. CoHASS aims to be Asia’s leading centre for innovative, interdisciplinary Humanities, Arts and Social Science practice and research.
As part of this mission, CoHASS is launching the Asian Centre of Digital Cultures, alongside a new Masters programme in Digital Humanities, and seeks new faculty colleagues with a strong record of high-quality research in related fields.
The successful candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas: artificial intelligence, large language models, data and text analytics, data visualization, and network analysis. They are expected to apply these areas to address contemporary issues in culture and society. We prefer (but do not require) the candidate to have a focus on Asia. They will have a doctorate in an appropriate field. Candidates will be attached to the Asian Centre of Digital Cultures, and one of CoHASS’s four schools, according to their specific research focus. They will teach on the Digital Humanities MA programme, and potential undergraduate courses as well.
