About
The University of Amsterdam’s iSchool was founded by the internationally leading research group in information science and digital humanities – with leading experts on information processing and access, contextual search, digital heritage, evaluation and user studies, library evaluation, archival science and recordkeeping informatics. At the Amsterdam iSchool, we like to work on deep principled problems, including hard technical challenges, with a focus on applications that have social and societal impact. We seamlessly combine traditional information science and emerging digital humanities research, with frontier research in search and recommendation, natural language processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
Amsterdam iSchool members teach in top ranked programs in media studies and in artificial intelligence, and run core graduate and doctoral programs in information science, archival science, and digital humanities. We are a driving force in the education of the next generation of information scientists and professionals working in memory institutions (e.g., archives, libraries, museums), in public administration (at all levels: national, provincial, and local government), and the private sector (e.g., publishing, media, creative industry).
