Conference Presentation
The Fourth International Conference on The Ethics of and Knowledge Organization, is part of a tradition carried on by the School of Information Studies at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, the Knowledge Organization Research Group, led by Professor Richard Smiraglia and Hope Olson who have organized three conferences and published their proceedings (2009, 2012 and 2015). The last and third conference organized by this group was in 2015. Other conferences and seminars on the theme of ethics have been organized by our colleagues of ISKO https://www.isko.org/ : the Brazilian team of São Paulo State University (UNESP) at Marilia, Axe 4 Geriico has been organizing a seminar on the Ethics of information the Knowledge Organization since and 2018. In June 2021, the sub-team 4 founded «The International Thematic Network on Ethics in SHS." It has since been active, organizing annual seminars on the ethics of Information & Knowledge organization (June 2021 & June 2022)
The 2023 edition, the fourth in the series initiated by Professors Richard Smiraglia and Hope Olson, intend reviving a theme carried by ISKO and by the founding universities of the International Thematic Network on Ethics in SHS. We are honored to follow in the footprints of ISKO eminent figures who contributed in developing and nourishing the theme of the Ethics of information & Knowledge organization. The conference will thus be named the “Fourth International Conference on Information Ethics and Knowledge Organization and the “First Conference of the International Thematic Network on the Ethics in SHS”
