University of Pittsburgh Spectrum Doctoral Fellow

In 2007, University of Pittsburgh student Janet Ceja was selected as one of six Spectrum Doctoral Fellows, a national program designed to increase racial and ethnic diversity among the profession’s next generation of LIS leaders.

As an undergraduate student at UC, Santa Barbara, Janet majored in Film Studies and was immediately fascinated with the study of film history. Her curiosity in archival work and interest in film history led her to the L. Jeffrey Selznick Masters degree program in Film and Media Preservation at the George Eastman House Museum and the University of Rochester.

Janet began her PhD studies at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Information Sciences in 2007. As a Ph.D. student, she is focusing on how collection development and archival policies affect the history and memory of people of color in the U.S.
