UNC Ph.D. Student’s Freedom Application in Salon
Freedom, created by University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Ph.D. student Fred Stutzman, will disable the networking, only on a Mac computer, for periods of anywhere from one minute to eight hours.
Salon writer Rebecca Traister says, "the Freedom I was seeking was meant not to liberate me from the oppressive bonds of an unjust regime. No, my Freedom was designed to bind and restrict me, to prevent me from e-mailing, surfing, browsing and playing online games. Ah ... sweet, sweet Freedom."
