Meet the iSchools
The University of Sheffield Information School
The Information School at the University of Sheffield has a truly international reputation. It has been awarded the highest possible rating in every Research Assessment Exercise ever carried out, making it arguably the best in the UK for a quarter of a century. It was also the first iSchool in Europe.
The School boasts a multidisciplinary staff, combining specialist information science expertise with academic expertise from the humanities, social sciences, engineering and sciences, and also bringing experience from professional practice in information roles. This breadth enables engagement with information issues and problems from different perspectives and within a range of different domains, and effective collaboration with partners from diverse areas in which information expertise is needed.
Particular strengths of the School include public, academic and digital libraries, information behaviour and information literacy, information retrieval and interaction, information and knowledge management, educational and health informatics, information systems, and chemoinformatics.
