What do the iSchools do?
UMBC’s Department of Information Systems
UMBC is among the nation’s leading public research universities in awarding IT degrees. In addition to offering master’s and doctoral programs in information systems—including an entirely online master’s in IS, UMBC is also among a select few universities in the nation to offer an M.S. and Ph.D. in human-centered computing. Most research within the IS Department fits within five core areas: artificial intelligence/knowledge management, database/data mining, decision making support systems, human-centered computing, and software engineering. Our undergraduate offerings include a B.S. in information systems, a B.A. in business technology administration, and numerous certificate programs including decision making support, auditing for information systems, web development, network administration, and project management.
