Syracuse Associate Professor Derrick L. Cogburn elected ICOMM ISAsection president at annual meeting
Associate Professor Derrick L. Cogburn was recently elected president of the International Communication Section of the International Studies Association (ICOMM ISA). In this position, Cogburn will be responsible for recruitment, budget, and other planning decisions as well as serving as liaison between the section and the association president.
The liaison role is especially relevant for Cogburn, who is also the president of the Information Technology and Politics section of the American Political Science Association (APSA ITP). This joint presidency was intentional and will be used to foster communication and interaction between the two organizations, Cogburn says. Prior to being elected president of ICOMM ISA, Cogburn had been the program chair for the 2009 ISA Annual Convention in New York.
Cogburn’s term will last for one year. A new president will be elected at the section’s next annual meeting.
