Call for Reviewers

Thank you for your interest in becoming a reviewer for the iConference, but all the reviewers have been chosen.

We hope to see you at the iConference!

The conference: iSociety: Research, Education, Engagement, brings together scholars and professionals whose work is shaping the iSociety. This critical work at the nexus of people, information and technology represents the important role of the iSchool in the iSociety. Program reviewers experienced in the research topics, practices, methods and epistemologies appropriate to an iSchool serve the invaluable role of shaping the conference in its exploration of the iSociety.

The program will feature a diverse selection of full papers, posters and panels exploring the following topics:

  • e-inclusion in the iSociety: addressing under represented groups among iDesigners as well as iConsumers (e.g., women, children and youth, the aging, people with disabilities, racial and ethnic minorities, immigrant communities, non-Western cultures)
  • Becoming a ‘green’ iSchool
  • What is ‘engagement’ in a research institution?
  • The influence of globalization on the nature and scope of iSchools’ research, education and engagement
  • Information infrastructure development in the home, in organizations, in communities, in society, globally
  • Cultural information systems; e.g., multilingual information systems, information systems for memory institutions or for indigenous and ethnic communities
  • Preserving digital information and ensuring information quality, security and privacy
  • Information management; e.g., personal information management, life cycle management of information, digital asset management
  • Information organization; e.g., ontological modeling, the Semantic Web, social bookmarking
  • information policy, ethics and law; e.g., remembering and forgetting in the digital age

The iConference organizing committee seeks reviewers to evaluate full papers, poster abstracts, and proposals for roundtable and wildcard discussions. To find out more about the content to expect, see the 2009 iConference Call for Participation. Faculty, information professionals and graduate students are encouraged to volunteer as reviewers. Due to the inclusive nature of the conference theme, we invite reviewers with a wide range of skills and expertise.

Reviewers will be expected to complete reviews within three weeks of a submission assignment. Reviews will be assigned by December 2, 2008, with completed reviews due December 19, 2008. The process will be completely electronic, with the review and rating system online. Reviewers will be offered the opportunity to select specific areas of interest.

To volunteer as a reviewer, please send an e-mail message to Cassidy Sugimoto at csugimoto@unc.edu by November 3, 2008.
