The 11-story Seattle Central Library opened in 2004; in 2007 it was voted to the American Institute of Architects' list of 150 favorite structures in the U.S.

Welser was honored for the paper “Finding Social Roles in Wikipedia,” along with co-authors Dan Cosley (Cornell University), Gueorgi Kossinets (Cornell), Austin Lin (Cornell; Microsoft), Fedor Dokshin (Cornell), Geri Gay (Cornell), and Marc Smith (Connected Action).
