Author Instructions: Full Papers & Poster Abstracts (ACM DL)

  1. All paper and poster authors are required to upload a final version of their submission regardless of whether any changes were made after acceptance

  2. All accepted papers and poster abstracts will be published in the ACM Digital Library contingent on compliance with the following instructions.

  3. No later than December 1, 2010, upload the final version of your paper or poster abstract to your account on the iConference peer review system. See: Detail instructions for uploading.

  4. Make sure that your paper or poster abstract fully conforms to the appropriate ACM format template at http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates. Failure to conform to the required template may jeopardize submission of your paper to the ACM Digital Library. We will not copyedit your paper.

  5. The following bibliographic and copyright information must be included by you at the bottom of the first page, left-hand column of your paper or poster abstract:
    Permission to make digital or hard copies of all or part of this work for personal or classroom use is granted without fee provided that copies are not made or distributed for profit or commercial advantage and that copies bear this notice and the full citation on the first page. To copy otherwise, to republish, to post on servers or to redistribute to lists, requires prior specific permission and/or a fee.

  6. The preferred file format for submission of the final version of your paper or poster abstract is .rtf, .doc, or .docx (these can be generated in OpenOffice or Microsoft Word). PDF files will be accepted only if they conform to the following additional requirements. If they do not conform, the paper will be sent back to the authors for resubmission. The additional requirements are:
    • Thumbnails have been embedded in the PDF file;
    • 1 scalable fonts have been embedded (Type 3 fonts [bit-mapped] will not be acceptable);
    • The PDF has been optimized for fast Web viewing.

Poster Conference Logistics

  1. We have two poster presentation sessions planned. The first will be held Wednesday, February 9, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. The second will be held Thursday, February 10, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Both sessions will take place in the Madison Ballroom of the Renaissance Seattle Hotel.

  2. You will present your poster during both sessions and at least one presenter must be with the poster during both poster sessions.

  3. Each poster will have a space approximately 69” wide and 45” high (landscape) on which to place your display. We will have push-pins available. If you need other supplies, please bring them with you.

  4. We suggest a font size of at least 24 points for your poster text.

  5. The top left section of the poster must contain:

    • Your assigned poster number. This number is the same number as your submission document in the peer review system.

    • Title of the poster

    • Name and institutional affiliation of each author

  6. The Madison Ballroom will be available for set-up beginning 9:00 am on Tuesday, February 8. Please have your poster in place before the commencement of the first poser session at 5:30 pm Wednesday, February 9. Posters may remain on display Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of the iConference, but MUST be taken down by 6:00 pm Friday, February 11.

  7. Your poster is your presentation. No electricity or tables will be provided.

Uploading Final Papers & Posters to the Peer Review System

  1. Log into your account on the iCaucus peer review system at http://ischools.org/ocs/index.php/iConf/2011/login;

  2. Once logged in, click on the Author link on the left-hand side of the screen to go to your list of active submissions;

  3. Click on the In Editing link to go to the metadata page for the submission;

  4. In the Director Decision of the page, use the bottoms to browse to the upload file and click the Upload link;

  5. Before exiting, be certain that the file has been uploaded by checking next to the "Author Version" label for the uploaded file. The system will have renamed the file. You are just checking to make sure you had a successful upload.

  6. Should you need to reload the final submission, contact sasutton@uw.edu if you have any difficulty in doing so.
